Kennel Attendant Job Description

Part-Time

What You’ll Do:

  • Feed and water animals (including special diets)

  • Clean and sanitize kennels, runs, and common areas

  • Monitor animal health and behavior

  • Assist with handling animals for exams, vaccines, and treatments

  • Provide enrichment, basic training, and help with temperament evaluations

  • Work with volunteers and provide friendly customer service

  • Help with laundry, stocking supplies, basic maintenance, and outdoor upkeep (including snow removal)

  • Assist with shelter programs and occasional fundraising events

What We’re Looking For:

  • At least 18 years old

  • Able to lift 50 lbs and be on your feet most of the day

  • Comfortable handling large dogs and stressed animals (training provided)

  • Reliable, patient, and a team player

  • Basic computer skills and good communication

  • Able to work in all weather conditions

Schedule:

  • Up to 20 hours per week

  • Shelter is open 365 days a year

  • Shifts may include weekends, holidays, and evenings

The Holt County Animal Shelter is a private, non-profit organization. We are funded entirely by private donations from our community.

In 2006 a group of concerned citizens came together to form Holt County Humane Society The mission then, and now is the same.

We are here to foster healthy companionship  between animals and humans. Through education and example we promote the appreciation of animals, and prevent the abuse and neglect.
